CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN ELEMENTS
The Baltic Summer Top is a buttom up contruction, which is knitted in the round until the start of the armhole. At this point the work is being split into upper front and upper back and is worked flat until both are finished. The shoulders are then seemed together and the arm holes are finished by two rounds of single crochet stitches.
The central design element of this top is the lace stripe in the upper part of both the front and the back. For the neck, german short rows are worked at the upper back to achieve a better fit of the garment and slightly slanted shoulders.
The length of the top can be easily adjusted by adding or removing rounds at the main body. Hints on the effects on yarn consumption can be found in the table at the buttom.
This top is designed with a negative ease of about -4 to -8 cm (-1,6 to -3,1 inches).
The recommendation is to choose a smaller size, when you fall in between sizes.
Depending on the yarn choice, a plant fiber can be expected to grow in blocking.
