This pattern is for a warm and cozy hat, inspired by grain. My grand parents were farmers and me and my cousin ran around the grain fields when we were kids. When trying duplicate stitch embroidery for the first time I liked how they resembled Barley and other grain. This hat is a tribute to all grain farmers in general and my grand parents in particular.

My pattern describes one size, which fits a head of around 60 cm / 24 inches circumference.

You will need one light and one dark green, and the yellow for embroidery. Gauge is for greens. Yellow yarn you can use what you want, as long as it’s thick enough to resemble grain when sewn.
Yardage 150 meters is for the greens, additional 50 meters is for the yellow.
The main needle used is 4.0mm 40cm cable needle. Ribbing can be done with 3.5mm cable needle if you want a little tighter ribbing. 3mm needles are DPNs for finishing the crown.
