SIZE
Height: approx. 145 cm / 58”
Width at bottom approx. 148 cm / 59.2”

YARN
Blacker Yarns Swan 4-ply (100% wool; 175m/190 yds per 50g skein), 6 skeins.
OR approx. 1050m/ 1140 yds of heavy fingering/sport weight yarn, or a combination of different weights to achieve a similar gauge.

The shawl is easily customised by adding or reducing the number of main chart repeats.

Testknitters have used between 680 m / 743 yds and 1044 m / 1142 yds for their shawls.

Note: if you choose to use a combination of different weight yarns, you will need the meterage/yardage above per yarn.

NEEDLES
3,5mm (US 4) circular needles (100cm/40” or longer).

GAUGE
14,5s & 35 rows = 10cm/4” in garter stitch, after blocking.
Since this is a shawl, gauge is not awfully important, but different gauge will of course effect the finished size and the amount of yarn needed.

NOTIONS
3 stitch markers, tapestry needle for weaving in the ends.

This pattern was made in collaboration with Blacker Yarns, and if you’d like to purchase a kit, you can find the kits here: https://www.blackeryarns.co.uk/barleycorn-shawl-project-kit/
