The pattern and colorway are inspired by the chapter “Barrels Out Of Bond”, in which the company escapes King Thranduil’s Halls in wine barrels and rides down the river to the mouth of the lake.

The sock features a gently waving travelling stitch to mimic the current of the Forest River, and a unique barrel-patterned heel. The pattern is written in three sizes.

I am able to knit men’s size 11 in the medium size with 450 yards; you may not be able to. Please ensure you have enough yarn for your project!

Unstretched, the sock is 7” (8”, 8.5”) around. It is a stretchy pattern.

Materials needed: Size 1 (2.5mm) dpns or circular needles, for your preferred method or knitting small circumference in the round. Darning needle, stitch markers. Sheepy Time Knits Sheepy Feet, colorway “Barrel Riders”.

This pattern was created as part of the Sheepy Time Knits There and Back Again Club. It was available for club members only until February 2015.
