While this pattern was knit with a worsted weight wool, you can use any yarn and needles you like to adjust the size and length (or bust your stash).
While lighter colours tend to show cables better, for an all over cabled garment such as this, dark colours work as well and produce interesting effects.
As this is a scarf, the gauge is not critical.
This is a great pattern to get used to making regular and travelling cables.
