ABOUT THIS PATTERN

This pattern was written to help you get started with brioche knitting. It is a fun, enjoyable knit that will help you dial in the rhythm of brioche knitting through two color work in the round, which is (surprisingly) a pretty easy way to learn brioche! This cowl is knit in the round and is reversible. On one side, the Main Color will be dominant. On the other side, the Contrast Color will be dominant.

For the sample we used a hand spun worsted weight yarn. You can use hand dyed, commercially dyed, or other worsted weight yarn! Give it a shot!

LEVEL Easy

MATERIALS

Yarn: Worsted Weight Yarn Approx 195 yds each of 2 different colors

The sample was made with the following yarn: Handspun yarn made with Hand Dyed Diva Superwash Shaniko Top (100% Superwash Merino/Rambouillet Wool; 100 gr). Variegated in our sample (Main Color)

Hand Dyed Diva Homegrown Worsted (100% Superwash Merino/Rambouillet Wool; 228 yds/228 m per 100 g skein). 1 skein in color Cupcake (Contrast Color)

Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles 24” (60 cm) long or size needed to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Tapestry needle to weave in yarn tails.

GAUGE
14 sts and 46 rounds = 4” in Brioche Rib stitch after blocking. Exact gauge is not critical to the success of this project, but working to a different gauge will alter the inished size and the amount of yarn required.
