This fun hat is knit using a stranded pattern in worsted weight yarn. It’s a great pattern for combining a fun, hand-dyed or variegated yarn with a solid or tonal yarn. It’s also a fun introduction to knitting in the round. This pattern includes both written instructions and a chart for the stitch pattern. We’ve broken the pattern into three sections: Ribbing Section, Pattern Section, and Crown Section.

Experience Level: Intermediate (Or advanced beginner…)

Size: Fits Most

Yarn:
Two colors: Main Color (MC) and Contrasting Color (CC) – if you want a stark, crisp pattern, use two solid colors. If you prefer the watercolor look shown in the samples, select a variegated colorway and a solid colorway that picks up on one of the hues in the variegated yarn.

For our samples we used:
GREEN/PURPLE SAMPLE HAT

MC: Cascade Yarns CASCADE 220 (100 grams/220 yards, 100% Peruvian Highland Wool): 1 skein #9407 Celery Heather CC: Malabrigo Yarns RIOS (100 grams/210 yards, Pure Merino Superwash Wool): 1 skein 866 Arco Iris

WHITE/BLUE/TAN SAMPLE HAT

MC: Berroco VINTAGE (100 g/218 yards, 52% Acrylic, 40% Wool, 8% Nylon): 1 skein 5100 Snowy Day
CC: For this sample we used a heavy worsted weight silk yarn hand dyed by Sydney Sogol (@sydsthreads on Instagram)

UPDATE - 02/19/2018
I revised and corrected an issue with the colorwork chart and colorwork instructions. I have uploaded a revised pattern to reflect these changes. Thank you! :)
