Batty is a cheerful little bat. He is made to be colorful, so pull out your brightest scraps and give each one its own personality.

Batty is knit in the round using kfb, k2tog, a three needle bind off and horizontal mattress stitch, so a newer knitter comes away having practiced a couple of tidy finishing techniques on a project that takes very little yarn, likely under 50 grams.

He finishes at about 4 inches across and 8 inches head to toe.

Skill level is advancing beginner. If you can knit in the round, Batty will walk you through the rest.

For a young child, a soft, grippable character in bold colors is easy to hold and fun to look at, and because Batty is not scary in the least he is a friendly way to welcome a little one to Halloween.
