The Byrd’s Nest is a small knitting pattern shop I have run since 2008, designing toys, blanket buddies, and loveys meant to become a child’s most loved companion.

I am a knitter and an early childhood educator, and that background shapes everything here. Every design is made with a real developmental purpose, soft textures to explore, a size made for little hands, and durability to withstand years of hugs.

It all started with a butterfly, the first toy I ever knit, freehand, before I thought of myself as a designer.

Not long after came Byrdo, the first little bird of the nest, born from a drawing my daughter made.

Those two beginnings, the first toy and the first bird, are still the heart of everything I make.
