The Romani people have a rich history interwoven with travel, endless roads, and the spirit of the open journey. In the Romani language, Baxtale Pinde translates to Happy Feet, making it the perfect name for this design. This pattern is a tribute to that wandering spirit, created to keep your feet comfortable and happy, no matter where your own path leads.

The socks are worked toe-up with short-row shaping for the heel. An instep wedge is worked before the short-row heel to provide additional room around the instep. After the heel is completed, the wedge stitches are decreased, returning the sock to the original stitch count. Instead of a traditional ribbed cuff, the socks are finished with a delicate lace pattern.

The pattern includes both written instructions and a chart for the lace pattern.
This pattern is perfect for advanced beginners looking to explore sock knitting.

Sizes & measurements
The pattern is given in 4 sizes: 1 (2, 3) 4
Circumference of unstretched foot: 18 (20, 21.5) 23 cm (7.2 (8, 8.6) 9.2”).
Socks are intended to be worn with 2.5-3 cm (1-1.6”) of negative ease.

Materials
Light fingering yarn 100 g (3.53 oz) = 420 m (459 yd), 75% Superwash Wool, 25% Polyamide

Yardage: 138 (190, 216) 248 m (151 (208, 236) 271 yd); 1 skein

The model in the photo is knitted in size 2 for foot length EU 38 using 45 g (1.6 oz) of 4-fädig 4-ply from Schachenmayr Regia in cloud color (no. 1844).

Needles: circular needles 2.5 mm (US 1.5) or size needed to meet the gauge.
Notions: tapestry needle, scissors, and a row counter are recommended.
