A simple and elegant chain of beads accented with lace fans.

To make the lace more delicate this design uses a 1.25 mm hook and size 20 crochet cotton. Size 20 crochet cotton is the same thickness as pearl cotton #8, or 4-ply sewing thread worked together. Any of these alternatives can be substituted.

This pattern begins with instructions on crocheting a chain of beads in a way that allows you to crochet along the sides of the beads.

The fans are crocheted in short rows and are worked one at a time along the chain. That means that the pattern can be easily adjusted for different lengths.

• 44 beads makes a 14” choker and requires about 37 yds of thread.

• 48 beads makes a 15.5” collar (shown in this pattern).

• 56 beads makes a 18” short necklace and requires about 47 yds of thread.

• 64 beads makes a 20.5” mid necklace and requires about 54 yds of thread.

• 72 beads makes a 23” long necklace and requires about 61 yds of thread.
