Beginner-friendly garter stitch mittens with a foldable ribbed cuff for extra length.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Beginners Mittens are a lovely, beginner-friendly project! They are worked in garter stitch, so you’ll only need to knit on both the right and wrong sides. The mittens have a ribbed cuff that can be folded down for extra length – practical for jackets with shorter sleeves.

The mittens are knitted flat, eliminating the need for double-pointed needles. The thumb is knitted separately and attached later. Finally, the mittens are crocheted together using single crochet stitches (or sewn together with a darning needle if you prefer).

RECOMMENDED NEEDLES/CROCHET HOOK
Knitting needle 6 mm | US 10 – or the size needed to achieve the correct gauge
Crochet hook 5mm | US 6

YARN CONSUMPTION
50 g of KOS by Sandnes
together with 50 g of Brushed Alpaca by Sandnes

OR 100–150 g of yarn scraps, depending on thickness and yardage.

GAUGE
13 stitches on needle size 6 mm | US 10 (or the needle size you need to hit the gauge) = 10 cm | 4 inches
