The Bella Facile Cabled Poncho is a pleasure to knit, and to wear!
It’s like wrapping yourself up in a big comfy cabled blanket, but a bit more stylish!

The poncho is knit flat in 2 pieces.
Both front and back pieces begin with garter stitch at the bottom edge, and the main body is knit in a pattern of symmetrically balanced cables and moss stitch, framed by garter stitch.

There is no shaping on the back (think blanket knitting!).
Instructions for front neck shaping are detailed and clearly written.
Once the front and back pieces are completed, they are joined at the shoulders; then stitches are picked up around the neck, and the collar is worked in garter stitch, in the round.

Pattern requires 1175 yards chunky weight yarn.
Sample was knit using 9 skeins of Berroco Ultra Alpaca Chunky, in color 72189 (Barley).

Recommended needles include sizes 9 and 10.5 circular needles, 32-40” (for main body); and size 9 circular needles, 24” (for collar).

Recommended gauge is 3.5 sts per inch, in stockinette stitch.

Finished dimensions are 33” wide x 26” long (after blocking).

Skills required include casting on, knitting, purling, basic cabling, decreasing (k2tog and ssk), binding off, seaming, picking up stitches, and working in the round on circular needles.

I hope that you’ll enjoy knitting and wearing this beautiful (bella) and easy (facile) cabled poncho!

Thanks to my beautiful models, Barb and Jane!

Please post photos of your finished ponchos, for everyone to admire and enjoy!
