“Bella” Racked Ribbed Toque
“Bella” is quick, easy, and a great way to use up a single 85g skein of worsted weight yarn. Knit one up for every member of the family. The interesting texture in the main section of the hat is created using a racked rib pattern straight out of the manual for the Brother KR260 ribber. “Bella” contains no shaping, making it simple for even beginner machine knitters.
Materials & Tools
• 1 skein (3 oz/85g) Lion Brand Wool-Ease, #4 worsted weight yarn, or similar worsted weight yarn to achieve gauge. Yardage: 197 yd. / 180 m. Note: If making a yarn pompom you will require additional yarn.
• 1 pompom of your choice (faux fur, yarn, etc.)
• 1 button if you are using a pompom with an elastic loop that you can remove for washing the hat. Note: You may wish to sew the pom on permanently for babies and toddlers so that it can’t be easily removed and/or swallowed
• Double-eyed bodkin, and yarn or tapestry needle for finishing, along with all the regular knitter/ribber accessories such as cast on combs, weights, transfer tools, etc..
Machine
• Bulky gauge (9mm) machine with a ribber that can be racked side to side. You do not need patterning capabilities for this racked rib pattern.
Gauge (in 2×2 rib)
• 6 sts × 6 rows = 1 inch. If your gauge varies from this you may need to adjust row count or stitch count for your gauge to ensure the hat fits
Sizes
• Sizing is given for 4 sizes: Baby/Toddler, (Child, Teen, Adult)
