Benjamin Brown Bear is busy filling his tummy with his favourite food - salmon! He knows that soon his mates will arrive for the Canada 150 Birthday party and he is not about to share his fresh catch with anyone.. even if they are his friends.
Benjamin is the second in a series of Canada’s native animals. They are all decked out in patriotic garb to join the festivities that they are sure will be held across the country.
Knit in Patons Astra, Benjamin is knit in one piece from his bottom to his nose. The arms and legs are added on later - something for which he is grateful or he could not hold his fresh fish otherwise.
The pattern for his bright red vest with the maple leaf button is also included. Also the pattern for the grey and pink fish is in the instructions.
A generally easy knit, this pattern does include short rows, kfb increases and a moss stitch. It is a quick knit and requires a small amount of yarn.
Even if you are not Canadian and want to celebrate the 150 birthday in July, Benjamin is a delightful sassy bear that would delight any youngster. Give him a try.. and then move on to his friends who are all listed individually on this site.
Happy Knitting everyone.. xo wendy
