Betty Shawlette
The triangular Betty shawlette is worked flat, back and forth, from tip to tip. It’s made completely in garter stitch with i-cord edges for a neat finish. A centre section, textured with easy to knit eyelets, separates the eye-catching colour tips. You will be increasing from the cast on edge on one side until you reach the mid-point, and then you will decrease along the same edge to the cast off tip.
Size: 144cm total width, 24cm maximum depth, after blocking
Yarn: 2 x 50g skeins wool decanted vintage 23 4ply (225m/246yds per 50g skein). 1 skein in each colour
Usage: Colour A (textured body) 212m/232yds; Colour B (colour tips) 113m/124yds
Needles: 3.25mm/US 3, 80cm circular needle, used for knitting flat
Gauge: approx. 28sts/46rows = 10cm/4” after blocking. Note, the shawlette uses most of the Main Colour A so if you intend to swatch, use your colour B yarn.
Notions: Removable stitch marker for marking wrong side of work (optional)
Tapestry needle for finishing
Row Repeats Tracker sheets: At the end of the pattern pages you will find a useful set of Tracker Sheets for recording your progress on the project, row by row. This will help you keep track of the increase and decrease rows, so that you increase evenly and the correct number of times to create the lovely elongated triangle shape of the shawlette. It will also help you keep track of the eyelet rows.
