Beyond the Wild Wood is a wrap yourself in comfort cardigan to live in.

It’s another Ziggurat and like all Ziggurats is knitted:

  • in one piece
  • top-down
  • seamless
  • shoulders, sleeve caps, and front bands knitted in one sweep
  • built-in slanted pockets
  • continguous set-in sleeves are knitted in the round
  • optional bust darts (four sizes from Smallish to Wowza!)
  • collar can be worn up or down
  • photo tutorial for the pocket

NOTE: Here is a link to the Winding Cast On tutorial that’s missing among the Helpful Links in the pattern.

The pockets are knitted in similar fashion to those on Messing About in Boats, but are slanted and quite on the sly.

A fisherman’s rib collar, hem, and arched cuff add interesting texture and structure.

The flaring rib collar is knitted on last, as are the last few rows of pocket lining.

Not a seam in sight. Honest.

Number of skeins: 7 (7, 7, 8, 8) 9, 9, 9, 10, 10

Approximate yardage:
1190 (1260, 1330, 1410, 1490) 1570, 1640, 1710, 1790, 1850 m
1300 (1380, 1460, 1550, 1640) 1720, 1810, 1870, 1960, 2030 yds

Note: The sample in size 38 was knitted with exactly 7 skeins – buy an extra skein as suggested to be safe. Alternatively, make the cardigan a little shorter.
