This bird nest house is an easy knit and a good felting project…and a little bit addictive. This pattern is knit back and forth in short row wedges. When seamed, the wedges form a ball shape. Achieve the very round final project with felting and letting dry over an inflated balloon.

Cute and fun.

An alternate option is to use a provisional cast on and graft the seam which yields a seamless appearance.

Worsted weight wool that will felt is required. Wedges can be made different colors to use up stash yarn. A 100 gm skein should yield two houses.

Gauge is not critical as the felting process determines finished size.
