Blanket Stitch Sweater

A quick and easy knitting pattern for advanced beginners, with clear instructions, illustrations and tips.

Sweater is worked bottom up on straight and circular needles.

Sweater is slightly oversized with split rib and funnel neck.

One size: Large / Extra Large. To fit UK 16/18 or US 12/14

Actual sweater measurements, when measured flat after washing/blocking:

Chest: 59 cm
Length: 63 cm
Sleeve length to shoulder join: 48 cm
Neck opening width at top: 17 cm (stretchy)
Height of funnel neck rib from shoulder: 7 cm

Yarn:

Body (worked single strand):
Malabrigo Rios in colour Black 195 – 5 skeins (total 960 m)

Ribbing (worked double strand):
Uncommon Thread Merino Lace in Debauchery colour - 1 skein (600 m)
Drops Kid Silk: Colour Red 14 - 2 balls (total 420 m)

Alternatively, 2 strands of Kid Silk could be used, in which case 3 balls will be required.

Needles:
5.5 mm circular needle (60 cm length) for lower body
5.5 mm straight needles (30 cm length) for upper body and sleeves
5 mm straight needles (30 cm length) for body and sleeve rib
5 mm circular needle (40 cm length) for neck rib

Tension:
19 stitches and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm square, knitted in stocking stitch in Malabrigo Rios yarn.
