This is my first mitten design to match the Blooming Grace Hat I released in March 2021. The hat was inspired by springtime when everything is beginning to bloom and buds are on the trees. It also makes me think of Jesus, the Rose that bloomed in Bethlehem, and His gift of grace. How appropriate to release the mitten design and pattern around Christmas 2021 as the hat pattern was released around Resurrection Day 2021.

The pattern features a fair isle mittens in 8 colors of Jamieson and Smith 2 ply jumper weight yarn and the colors are listed in the pattern. One skein of each yarn with be sufficient to complete one pair of mittens with plenty leftover to create other projects. I would love to see your different colorways and knitting of my colorway too, so please link your project to my pattern on Ravelry.

These mittens will fit an average sized woman’s hands with blocked measurements of:
• Length 9.5 inches/24cm
• Length of Body 7.25 inches/18.5 cm
• Body Circumference 7.75 inches/19.7 cm
• Ribbing Circumference 7.5 inches/19cm
• Thumb length, base to tip 3.5 inches/9cm
• Length from wrist to thumb tip 5 inches/12.75cm
• Length of Ribbing 2.375in/6cm

In order to knit a slightly smaller or larger size pair of mittens simply decrease your needle size for a smaller size and increase your needle size for a bigger size.

I have included color charts for the left mitten including the ribbing, body, and thumbs. There is a separate page of charts for the right mitten.

I hope you enjoy knitting this springtime mittens to cheer up your winter days and hop on over to make a matching hat too!
