Sometimes you encounter a textured lace pattern that sings to you. The Blue Brocade Bag was inspired by a beautiful Japanese lace pattern found on a pair of socks. Thinking this lace deserved to be showcased rather than hidden in shoes, the Blue Brocade bag was born.

Overview

The Blue Brocade Bag is worked seamlessly from the top down in the round holding 4 strands of linen together. First, a stockinette stitch edge is worked, then the sides of the bag are worked in the round in a brocade lace pattern. The bottom is worked in short rows picking up side seam stitches similar to the technique used on sock heel flaps and gussets. A lining is then sewn and fitted into the bag and a leather strap is attached.
