The Shawl

There is a body of water called The Blue Lake at Jenolan Caves. It is the most amazing milky turquoise colour.

This shawl is of top down construction using short rows in moss stitch.

Finished size - wing span 145cm x at widest point 45cm approx. after blocking.
Gauge - 19 stitches and 42 rows over 10cm x 10cm washed and blocked moss stitch with 3.50mm needles (although gauge is not critical as this is a shawl if you wish to get the same finished size then a swatch is recommended).

You will need

  • 3.50mm 60cm circular needle
  • 3 x balls of 4ply cotton 170m each (the colours used here are Morris & Sons Avalon 4ply: In order of knitting - Turquoise 4418, Jade 4417 and Pearl 4404).
  • 1 x tapestry needle for weaving ends.
  • 4 locking stitch markers
  • Blocking wires and pins
