This pattern is available from crochetedbybogusia.etsy.com for €8.50.

This pattern is perfect for a little project on the go or when you need something mindless but definitely not boring. It uses a small amount of yarn so it’s great to use up your scraps or that special skein you were wanting to use.

Construction
This pattern has instructions on two types of scarfs - long and narrow one (blue/purple version) and a bigger one, shaped more like a right triangle (pink/red version). For both we start by casting on a small amount of stitches, then evenly increasing to shape the first part of the scarf and then evenly decreasing to shape the second part of the scarf. The main color and contrast color switch in the middle of the scarf to give some visual interest and to use the yarn evenly. After we bind off the body of the scarf, we add an applied icord on all edges to finish them.

Sizes available:
The size of the scarf is easily modifiable. My versions measure:
blue/purple sample: 13x101cm/5.1x40in
pink/red sample: 27x75cm/11x30in

Gauge
24 sts and 40 rows to 10cm/4in in mosaic stitch (blocked). Suggested needle size: 4 mm but use whatever needle size necessary to achieve gauge.
Note: As the size of the scarf is easily customizable, you can work this pattern off gauge, using whatever needle size that fits your yarn. I suggest using a needle that’s a bigger than recommended for your yarn because the garter slip stitch pattern can turn out stiff.

Yarn
You will need approximately 120-200m/130-220yd of yarn. I recommend using fingering or sport weight to get a nice drape and a light scarf but you can use any weight that produces the fabric you want (or the one you have in your stash).
If you using two or three yarns held together, you’ll need the same quantity of each of those yarns. Please note that these are just approximations. Total yarn usage will depend on the yarn you use (fiber content, ply, etc.), your personal gauge, and any modifications you may make. Bigger scarf will use more yarn.

Blue/purple sample
Yarn: De rerum natura ulysse (50g/185m) in colors ciel (blue), figue (dark purple) and aster (lighter purple)
Yarn usage: 51m/56yd of each ciel and figue, 28m/31yd of aster

Pink/red sample:
Yarn: Fonty Ceur d’Angora (25g/108m) in colors 322 (pink) and 308 (red)
Yarn usage: 63m/69yd of each 322 and 308

Instructions
The pattern uses charts but there are written instructions provided for each section of the scarf.
