Inspired by the rugged beauty of the northern Irish coast, this shawl is worked in one piece from the top down. It starts with a narrow lace edge followed by a simple set of short rows, which shape the shawl into a versatile crescent. After the short rows are complete, the deep lace borders are worked next, and then the shawl is finished with delicate points along the bottom edge.

For additional interest and some unexpected sparkle, the lace is beaded throughout (215 6/0 4.00 mm seed beads); however, the beads are optional and the pattern can be worked without them. This, along with the easy lace pattern, makes Boireann a great intro-to-lace project and a fun, quick knit for the more advanced lace knitter.

Pattern was originally exclusive to Yarnorama during the 2017 Hill Country Yarn Crawl.
