The Bountiful Sweater is an oversize garment worked from the top down in the round. It’s an all over feast of delicious bands of textures, made entirely with knit and purl stitches, separated by lateral braids. The double layer high collar is worked in ribbing and is closed by a quarter length zip, bringing a modern touch to the classic dropshoulder silhouette.

Featuring shaping in all the necessary places to make it a perfectly fitting wardrobe staple, the Bountiful Sweater is my interpretation of the timeless guernsey-like sweater, and it will be the perfect toasty and practical companion to all your outdoor (or indoor!) adventures.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Suggested ease: 20 to 30 cm / 8 to 12” of positive ease at the chest. Sizing guidance included in the pattern.

To fit chest measurement (the chest is measured at the upper bust, not the full bust):

The straight hair model is 169 cm / 5’6” tall and has a chest of 85 cm / 33½” (full bust is 80 cm / 31’’). She is wearing a modified size 2 without bust darts and with 1 additional texture band on the body.

A buffer for swatching is accounted for. The optional bust darts will require an additional 35 to 125 m / 40 to 140 y (= 13 to 50 g) of yarn.

GAUGE
Measured on wet blocked fabric over 10x10 cm / 4x4”.

Stockinette stitch flat and in the round: 21 sts by 32 rows/rounds
Textures: 22 sts by 32 rows/rounds (instructions for swatching in pattern included)

Despite what the stockinette gauge suggests, I recommend using a heavy DK to worsted weight yarn to get the best effect of texture. That being said, a lighter yarn will still work, just note that the motifs will be less defined.
