Boxy Mohair Tee
Here is a light-weight tee that may be worn alone or as a layering piece. Knit in a single strand of mohair, you will enjoy its relaxed and comfortable style.
Choose one of the yarns suggested, or pick a similar mohair-silk lace-weight yarn to duplicate the sheer but slightly fuzzy fabric.
Size 0 - 37.5”/95cm chest, 20”/51cm long; requires 340yd/ 310m
Size 1 - 41”/103cm chest, 20”/51cm long; requires 360yd/330m
Size 2 - 44.5”/113cm chest, 21”/53cm long; requires 405yd/370m
Size 3 - 48”/122cm chest, 21”/53cm long; requires 435yd/400m
Size 4 - 51.5”/131cm chest, 22”/53cm long; requires 480yd/440m
Size 5 - 55”/140cm chest, 22”/56cm long; requires 525yd/480m
Size 6 - 62”/157.5cm chest, 23”/56cm long; requires 625yd/570m
Pick a size based on the fit you desire:
4” to 8” (10 to 20cm) of ease for a relaxed fit
>8” of ease for a flowy look
0 to 2” ease for a more fitted look
Please note that yardage/meterage requirements are slightly conservative. Actual yarn consumption depends on yarn choice, individual tension, and total length knit.
Gauge:
14 stitches by 19 rows (per 4 inches) in stockinette
Knit flat and spray blocked (stretch well during blocking but not super hard)
Suggested needles (circular needles at least 24”/60cm length, or long straight):
US 10/ 6mm for cable cast-on and stockinette body (or whatever gives you gauge)
US 8/ 5mm for ribbing (i.e. 1mm smaller than needles used for stockinette)
US11/ 8.0mm or US10.5/ 6.5mm for neck and shoulder bind-off - optional
The garment is knit flat, from the bottom up. The shoulders are seamed after the front and back pieces are finished and blocked. Armhole band stitches are picked up and knit. Then the sides are seamed to finish.
Fit is customizable and landmark measurements are given at every step in order to keep you on track.
This pattern is geared towards the intermediate knitter or adventurous beginner. Some on-line research may be required for steps or techniques that are unfamiliar. I have provided helpful hints along the way, without encumbering the flow of the pattern itself.
