  • please read* Unfortunately, I have had to increase the price of this pattern to $2.00 usd. PayPal’s new fee increases has forced me to increase my $1.00 patterns. I am so sorry that I have had to do this, but it is a slap in the face to have 52% of the sale of my patterns taken from me in fees. I hope to reduce the price back to $1.00 as soon as I can get a website up and running. Thank you for your support ♥️ (Much love).

** Update! **
I have revised this pattern to accommodate one skein of DK yarn that has a yardage amount of 231 yards. If your skein has more yardage, or you have two skeins, you can continue with a few more pattern repeats.

I’ve gone and done it again! I wrote another bandana cowl pattern. What can I say? I do love the shape of a bandana cowl. While this may seem very similar to its big sibling, Way Out West Bandana Cowl, this new kid on the block stands on its own. It’s warmer, a bit more snug, and has its own personality. I wanted a bit more technique in this cowl, but not too much to make it one you have to really concentrate on. Breathe Cowl is a relaxing and not too complex knit, it’s the perfect knit for watching TV, or listening to your favourite podcast.
The name came to me while I was finishing the pattern and getting frustrated at myself for not being able to decide on how I was going to wrap up the cowl. I just could not figure out how I wanted to end it, and then I heard myself saying “breathe, take a breath.” That’s when I decided on the name Breathe.
We all need to remind ourselves to breathe from time to time (or, in my case, multiple time throughout the day). And so I hope that’s what this pattern will do for you, help you to relax and breathe. I wish you warmth and coziness.

There is no strict gauge for this pattern. This cowl is a one size fits most. If you are a tight knitter with a tighter gauge, try going up a needle size or two from the size recommended for the cast on and garter collar. The neck/collar is approximately 21 inches in circumference and the front of the cowl comes to approximately 14 inches from cast on to bind off.

This pattern uses approximately 244-250 yards of DK weight yarn. Of a 115g skein, I used approximately 112g.
This is truly a one skein project.

In the body of the cowl, you will be continually increasing every other row while adding in rows of eyelets. The finishing of the cowl will have garter rows to keep the cowl flat and prevent curling of the bind off.
