Brioche Cloche is a simple brioche-stitch hat with a slight brim flare for a cloche-ish shape, plus some easy crochet details! You’ll need experience knitting in the round and working brioche to knit this hat, and being comfortable with a little bit of crochet will help as well.

Gauge is taken using the brioche conventional brioche-stitch approach—two rounds of brioche rib equal one complete round! Gauge is important for the fit of a hat. Please be sure to check your gauge and knit using the needles you need. Recommended needle sizes are a starting point.

Materials:
110 yards of chunky-weight yarn, such as Patons Roving Wool
16” circular needle US size 10-10.5/6.0-6.5mm, or size needed for gauge
One set of double-pointed needles in size needed for gauge
Crochet hook, size K/6.5mm
4 stitch markers
1 large button (1”+)
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
OPTIONAL: 16” circular needle, one size up from size needed for gauge

With this knit, you have the option of starting one needle size up to exaggerate the cloche shape; if you know your gauge, these little details really make the project.

Brioche Cloche fits head circumferences between 20 and 22.5” best.
