This Union Jack beret is knitted sideways in garter stitch using provisional cast on. Short rows technique is used to achieve the concentric stripes design. The blue triangular sections of the beret are knitted in lace, and Kitchener stitch is used for seamless join.

I called my design The British Pride because this year marks the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the year Britain hosts the 2012 Olympics games. Some of the elements of the design has been inspired by shape of the triangular lights of the new London Olympic stadium depicted by the lace pattern in the blue triangles

This is perfect for a fast, fun, interesting and enjoyable project.
