Brocoli Sweater
Meet the Brocoli Sweater, a cozy, textured pullover that’s as fun to knit as it is to wear. Its signature Brocoli stitch creates a beautifully organic, openwork texture that gives the sweater its unique character, while the relaxed, generous fit makes it an instant wardrobe staple.
Worked top-down with a structured construction, this sweater starts with the back, builds through raglan-style shoulder shaping, and joins seamlessly into the round for the body. The sleeves are picked up at the armhole and tapered to a neat twisted rib cuff. A double folded collar finishes the neckline with an elegant, cosy touch.
Construction: Top-down, worked flat then joined in the round
Fit: Oversized with 15 cm of positive ease
Sizes: XS / S / M / L / XL / XXL
Bust circumference: 102 – 106 – 110 – 114 – 118 – 126 cm
Yarn: Held double throughout, one strand of fingering/super fine (75% wool, 25% polyamide) held together with one strand of mohair/silk lace weight. This combination gives the fabric its halo, warmth, and beautiful drape.
Gauge: 30 sts × 26 rows = 13 cm × 10 cm in Brocoli stitch pattern on 4.5 mm needles
Needles: 4.5 mm and 3.5 mm circular needles (80 cm and 40 cm)
Techniques used: Twisted rib, yarn overs, K4tog, M1R/M1L increases, tubular bind-off, picking up stitches purlwise, folded collar cast-off
The pattern includes full written instructions, a stitch diagram for the Brocoli pattern repeat, and detailed size-by-size charts for both the back and front panels. A YouTube tutorial is also available.
Perfect for intermediate knitters ready to explore a new stitch texture in a satisfying, wearable project.
