Brosnan Ear Warmer
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
This design was inspired by my ‘knit look’ Brosnan Beanie crochet pattern.
Double cables space evenly around the body of this ear warmer resulting in a striking finished result with amazing STRETCH and TEXTURE! Worked from the bottom up - this ear warmer is easily adjusted for width and height sizing.
The beginning of the ear warmer is done using a foundation double crochet chain as the starting round. It is highly recommended that you be comfortable doing a foundation double chain before attempting this pattern. An alternative to the foundation double chain is provided - although it is not my recommended approach.
Measurement starting points are provided for 1-5 years, 6-12 years, Small Adult, Large Adult. It is encouraged that you have fun and play with different hook sizes and yarn weights to achieve the end result that works for you! Guidance for WORSTED (4 weight) and a lighter feeling BULKY (5 weight) yarn are provided in the pattern.
For each new yarn that I use with the pattern, I like to make two or three ear warmers using a different sized hook for each ear warmer. I am often surprised at which yarn/hook combo I end up preferring. I then make sure to write this combo down so that I have it for reference.
Variegated yarns look AMAZING with this pattern as does color blocking and striping. SO many ways to play with color with this design. Have fun and enjoy!!
