Bubbly Rapids Shawl, an asymmetrical shawl, was inspired by the bubbles and ripples from excited water rolling onto the shore. The constantly changing patterns in the waves and bubbles of water keep you mesmerized.

The shawl is an asymmetrical triangle which is worked sideways, so it is adjustable to any length yardage. The bubbly lace edging spice to this garter stitch shawl.

The shawl is knit from the tip with a simple lace edging, garter stitch and an I-cord edge. The lace edging wrong-side rows have the pattern stitches, and the right-side rows have the increase stitch. The shawl is interesting while still being easy enough to knit while talking or watching your favorite TV show.
Sizes: Small Large

Finished Measurements: 45”/114 cm 60”/ 152 cm length and 31”/79 cm 48”/ 121 cm width at widest point. Measurements taken after blocking.

Skills: It is suitable for an advanced beginner knitter. Pattern uses k, yo, k2tog, sl1, sl3 wyif, and kfb for the increase. The pattern is mainly garter stitch with a very simple knit-as-you-go lace edging. Instructions are charted and written. Pattern has been tech edited and test knit.

Yarn:
Elegante, Aurora Yarns of Alaska, Raven Frog (dyed in Alaska), 50% Merino Wool/50% Silk, 5.5 oz/155 g skein, 650 yds/594 m, #8012, Stormy Seas #10.

Most sport weight yarns may be substituted. A single color, tonal or lightly speckled yarn will show the edge pattern best.

** You may use any weight yarn for this shawl using needle size 2 or 3 sizes larger than needle size called for on the yarn label. Yardage will vary depending on weight of yarn used.

Needles: US 7 4.5 mm 40” 100 cm circular needle, or size to obtain correct gauge

Notions: 1 stitch marker, 1 split ring or removable marker, tapestry needle.

Gauge: 18 sts and 28 rows = 4” 10 cm over shawl body in Garter Stitch, blocked.

Gauge is not crucial in this pattern; however, a variance in gauge will result in requiring more or less yarn, and different overall dimensions.
