About this Pattern
This is a quick knit: a simple cap, starting with an icord, increasing to cover the head and then decreasing back down to the tip of the second icord. The ears are double-knit separately and attached to the cap with wool and an embroidery needle.

Skills Needed
This is for an adventurous beginner or intermediate knitter. You need to be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl and be comfortable with sewing pieces together. The double knitting will require some patience if you’ve never done it before! Video tutorials are included in some sections.

Sizing
The sizing is customisable to fit any head.

Gauge
20 Garter Stitch ‘Bumps’ per 4”/10cm and 20 Garter ridges (2 knit rows) per 4”/10cm.

Yarn

  • 4 Seasons Pure Wool 8ply from Spotlight in Grey and Pink.
  • Moda Vera Faux Mo from Spotlight in Grey.

You can replace these with any light worsted or 10ply yarn.

Materials

  • 5mm Circular Needles (you can also use straight needles, but I find it easier to work an icord using circulars).
  • Tapestry needle.
  • Florist wire to insert into ears for shaping (optional).
  • You will also need a tape measure and some stitch markers.
