This fun and remarkably flexible hat pattern is a great stash-buster that stitches up in just a few hours! Wear it as a beret, a slouch hat, or a cap; it even has enough slack in it you can even roll your hair up in the back of it and wear it like a snood! It’s so flexible, you can also make a doily or a basket with this same pattern!

This crochet pattern uses worsted-weight yarn (cotton or wool recommended), and is a great stash-buster. It is rated “Easy” in difficulty. The pattern includes full directions and partial chart, plus “in-progress” photos to help you through the tricky bits.

THIS IS NOT A SCANNED PATTERN. This is an entirely new pattern, designed and written by me. This pattern was inspired by the vintage “Hurray, the Beret” pattern found in the 1973 book, The Easy Art of Ripple Crochet by Graphic Enterprises, Inc. While the original text of this pattern was easy to follow and mostly accurate, I have rewritten the original pattern from scratch, updating terms as needed to current standards. I made several corrections to the original pattern, added suggested variations, created a partial crochet chart to help you get over the tricky bits, and include some “in-progress” photos to guide you.
