The Companions Lap Blanket was designed to showcase a set of companion cable stitch patterns. It is an example to demonstrate the use in a project for the small stitch collection included in the pdf, Cable Companions: 36 Coordinated Cable Designs (#1-4 used in pattern). These are given in sets that are matched in various ways. The white sample shows #26 and #27 A & B. Stitch patterns have charts and written directions; knitting pattern has charts only.

The knitting of the blanket begins with the lower border. Stitches are picked up from the long edge of the border for the main body. The upper border is knit separately and joined to the body with three needle bind off, or sewn on.

The lap blanket knit in worsted weight requires approximately 1700 yards, and measures about 40” wide x 54” long, using 5mm/8US needles.
