Anyone who knows me knows I am a real coffee lover and so when I was invited to come up with a new design for Blacker Yarns using their new range of Shetland Yarns inspired by their love of coffee I couldnt resist!
The yarn is worsted spun making it soft to touch yet durable and it is perfect for stranded colourwork. My design is based on a traditional Fairisle motif but with a contemporary twist and a modern shape to the garment. It is worked entirely in the round from the bottom up with a turned hem and cuffs and links are included in the pattern for those who may be unfamiliar with the techniques used.

The pattern will also be available in a kit form from https://www.blackeryarns.co.uk/

Blacker Shetland 4ply (100% pure Shetland Wool: 400m/100g) in the following quantities:
• MC Mocha 4(4,4,4,5,5,5,6,6) skeins
• CC Flat White 2(2,2,2,2,2,3,3,3) skeins
All yarn quantities are approximations and you may need to purchase extra skeins should gauge not be met or if you wish to add length.

Tension
29st and 34 rows to 10cm/4 inches over washed and blocked colourwork and stocking stitch in the round. I met gauge using needles noted but your gauge may vary greatly. Please check gauge very carefully and adjust your needle sizes accordingly.

Notions
• 2.75mm circular needles in 80cm and 100cm for working body plus spare 2.75mm circular needle for creating turned hem.
• 3mm circular needles in 60cm and 100cm for working lower border and yoke.
• Switch to shorter/longer needles as circumferences decrease/increase.
• 2.75 m and 3mm DPN for working sleeves (or preferred needles for working small circumference in the round)
• Stitch markers
• Waste yarn for holding stitches and provisional
cast on
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends/grafting under arms
• Crochet hook for provisional cast on
