The mind is like water. When it’s turbulent, it’s difficult to see. When it’s calm, everything becomes clear. --Prasad Mahes

When the sea is turbulent, it’s stressful and it’s hard to find your way, and when the sea is calm it’s peaceful and relaxing. And, if the ocean can calm itself, so can you! For me, crocheting and knitting simple projects has a way of relieving stress, and bringing calmness and peace.

Calm Waters is a scarf that has two sections, using two colors of yarn. The stitch pattern for each color section is different, and both are easy two-row repeats. A small amount of the color 1 yarn is saved so that you can crochet a contrasting stripe at the end of the color 2 section followed by one final accent row of the color 2 yarn.

With this pattern you can elevate your crochet, using two different yarn colors, two different stitch patterns and making a trendy scarf shape, and still enjoy a simple, relaxing project.

The scarf uses two skeins of at least 475 yards of fingering or sock weight yarn (about 950 yards total).

I used two skeins of the lovely The Plucky Knitter Solo yarn (merino wool/silk, 475 yards/skein) in the calming colors of “Blackbirds” and “I Want Some More”.

So, find your two colors and find the same peace that comes from being near calm waters when you crochet this scarf!
