The Calypso Camisole is a cute cropped tank with a split hem, I-cord straps, and a lovely simple seed stitch texture. It is knit bottom up, both flat and in the round, with some optional shaping to suit your body. It is a size inclusive design, written in a format where you will be able to customize your tank to fit your desired measurements. The pattern includes guidelines and tips for modifying and shaping your tank to your desired fit.

Note: Due to the made to measure nature of this pattern, I would consider it an Intermediate pattern.

Sizes offered:
This pattern is designed in a format that allows you to customize measurements to fit your desired size/shape. It includes formulas for calculating necessary stitch/row counts and increases/decreases needed based on your measurements. The recommended fit for this tank is 0-2 inches / 0-5 cm negative ease at the full bust, and 2-6 inches / 5-15 cm positive ease around the torso.

Needles required:
4 mm / US 6 / UK 8 (choose a circular cord length that approximately matches your natural waist measurement)
Note: May need other size needles to meet gauge.

Gauge:
Working in simple seed stitch (see below), and blocked
I recommend swatching both in the round and flat, as parts of the tank are knit flat before joining in the round. If your flat gauge is significantly different than your round gauge, you can adjust needle size for the flat portion.

4 x 4 inch / 10 x 10 cm = 23 sts x 31 rows/rounds - working in stockinette

Simple Seed Stitch (for gauge swatch):
Cast on in multiples of 4 + 3

Knit Flat:
Row 1 (RS): k3, p1, k3
Row 2 (WS): p all
Row 3 (RS): k all
Row 4 (WS): p all
Row 5 (RS): k1, p1, k2, k1, p1, k1
Row 6 (WS): p all
Row 7 (RS): k all
Row 8 (WS): p all

Knit in the Round:
Row 1: k3, p1, k3
Row 2: k all
Row 3: k all
Row 4: k all
Row 5: k1, p1, k2, k1, p1, k1
Row 6: k all
Row 7: k all
Row 8: k all

Repeat Rows 1-8 until your piece is the length you desire.

Yarn recommended:
Any sport weight yarn to match gauge.

I used Witchfire Fibers Classic Sport base (100% superwash merino 3 ply, 328 yds / 300 m per 100g)

Yardage required:
Since this is a create your own sizing format, I don’t have an exact estimate of yardage. I used just over 1 skein (123 g/403 yards) for my first sample. I have a 37 inch / 92.5 cm bust and did some bust shaping and a little extra cropped length.

I have calculated some rough estimates for a range of bust sizes (with no additional shaping), and I can help you figure out a more exact yardage estimate if you would like to give me your measurements.

Based on full bust of:
26, (30, 34, 38)(42, 46, 50)(54, 58, 62) inches / 65, (75, 85, 95)(105, 115, 125)(135, 145, 155) cm

Based on body length (from armpit to bottom of front hem) of:
9.5, (9.5, 9.5, 10)(10, 10, 10.5)(10.5, 11, 11) inches / 24, (24, 24, 25)(25, 25, 26)(26, 27.5, 27.5) cm

Estimated Yardage / meters:
315, (365, 410, 460)(515, 565, 645)(700, 790, 850) yds / 288, (334, 375, 421)(471, 517, 590)(640, 722, 777) m

Additional yardage / meters per inch / 2.5 cm:
25, (29, 33, 36)(40, 44, 48)(52, 56, 60) yds / 23, (27, 30, 33)(37, 40, 44)(48, 51, 55) m

Testers used a range of 380-915 yards (full bust range of 31-54 inches / 77.5-135 cm), and many chose to add length for a non-cropped tank. I am happy to help you calculate a rough yardage estimate before getting started! You can email me at perfectlyknottedshop@gmail.com.

Extra notions required:
Stitch markers (6 of any type for marking BOR, side and edges, plus 6 locking markers recommended for marking the straps)
Scissors
Yarn needle
Scrap yarn/cord connectors/knit keeper cords for holding stitches and trying on work
Row counter is recommended
The Cordsmith is a great tool for making the I-cord straps if you want to make it easier/quicker (only works with 3 st I-cord)
