Campfire Cardi
Pattern Notes
The Campfire Cardi is a cozy, oversized colorwork cardigan designed to be layered over sweaters and worn comfortably through all seasons. It features a bold stranded colorwork yoke, a relaxed silhouette, and warm, structured finishing details. The cardigan is worked top-down in the round, beginning with the colorwork yoke, then split for sleeves. Optional German short rows are worked after the split to add extra length to the back for a more comfortable fit. The front of the cardigan is steeked and finished with double-knit button bands, while the hem, cuffs, and neckline are completed with thick, folded ribbing for an extra cozy feel.

Construction:
Top-down, worked in the round
Stranded colorwork yoke
Sleeves split and body worked in the round
German short rows for back shaping
Steeked front opening
Double-knit button bands
Folded ribbed hem, cuffs, and neckline
Design & Construction Notes:
After the colorwork chart is complete, stitches are redistributed to ensure even sleeve placement regardless of where the original beginning-of-round marker falls. A new beginning-of-round marker is placed at the center back and is used for German short-row shaping. The steeked front opening is reinforced before cutting. Buttonhole placement is calculated based on the total number of rows worked to accommodate different body lengths.
Skill Level: Intermediate
This pattern is best suited for knitters comfortable with stranded colorwork and following stitch counts carefully. Steeking, German short rows, and double knitting are explained with detailed instructions and notes throughout the pattern.
