Striped sweater with a polo collar and a classic fit - Difficulty: Intermediate

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Candy Striper Polo is a fun and creative knitting pattern that allows you to play with colors and textures using your scrap yarn. The polo is knitted top-down, making it easy to adjust both the length and fit along the way.

You start at the neckline, shaping it using short rows while working raglan increases. First, the polo is worked back and forth, then in rounds.

The stripes are gradually added, creating a unique, graphic look. The sleeves are worked in rounds either using circular needles or using the magic loop technique. As a final touch, stitches are picked up for the button bands and neckline. You can finish it with an elegant polo collar or a simple crocheted edge.

The pattern is ideal for using your yarn scraps in a beautiful and practical manner. Along the way, you can find inspiration and help in the accompanying videos.

CHOOSING YARN
The total amount of yarn varies depending on what your yarn weights, the yardage of the yarn, and the size. I highly recommend having too much yarn rather than missing a bit in the end.

You can combine various types of yarn to achieve the required gauge.

I have used 1 strand of yarn suitable for 5 mm | US 8 needles held together with 1 strand of silk mohair, or 2 strands of yarn suitable for 3 mm | US 2,5 needles. Feel free to experiment and mix different combinations along the way!

If you want the stripes to be the same color throughout the polo, ensure you have at least 50 g of the same color. For the button bands, you will need 20-30 g of the same color yarn.

For my brown polo, I have used one strand of Tweed Delight from Hobbii (85% wool, 10% acrylic, 5% viscose, 100 m per skein worsted or DK yarn, recommended needle size 5 mm | US 8) + one strand of Silk Mohair fingering or lace yarn.
