The colorwork on this hat is inspired by a mathematical object called the Cantor Set. In this instance, the design looked like castles across the body of the hat. The finished hat is warm and slouchy when worn: the hat height with brim folded is around 10.5 inches, and the head circumference is about 21”. It’s stretchy enough that it should fit most adult-sized heads.

Choose two colors of fingering weight: a main color which doesn’t have too much variation (about 81g), and then a pop of color (about 13g) for the design. A 20g mini skein would be perfect!

The hat is knit in the round and features a fold-over brim for extra warmth in the ears.

The pattern includes both a chart as well as written instructions for the colorwork, so you can use your preferred method.
