These mittens are named after my beautiful daughter Carmelita.

Carmelita Mittens are a part of an ebook of knitting patterns called Five Floral Mittens. Along with Carmelita Mittens, you will also get the pattern for Floria Mittens, Wild Flower Mittens, Flowerfest Mittens, and Floriculture Mittens.

Carmelita Mittens, and all the mittens in Five Floral Mittens, are made using two different colored strands of yarn and following charts. The front and back of the mittens have the same design, thus there is no designated left or right mitten. Just make two mittens and you have a pair.

To make Carmelita Mittens you will need 142 yd/ 130 m of a main color and 95 yds/ 87 m of a contrasting color. Use Knit Picks Palette yarn or other 100% wool fingering weight yarn. The sample in photos were made with Knit Picks Palette Lingonberry (Red) and Cream.

Originally published in 2021 as one of my first patterns, Carmelita Mittens has since been improved and tech edited in 2026. The floral design is the same but the new pattern is made with Knit Picks Palette yarn and has a slightly different gauge.
