Carmine Hat
The Carmine Hat is a worsted weight hat worked from the bottom up featuring an all over broken rib texture worked up on a US size 7 / 4.5 mm 16” circular needle.
Featuring a simple 2x2 ribbed brim and broken rib throughout, this hat has a cozy, easy to memorize texture. When you reach the crown decreases, you will need either DPNs or a long circular needle in US size 7 / 4.5 mm to knit the crown decreases.
Sizes: Small (medium, large)
Finished Measurements:
- S: 8” tall x 18” circumference (will fit up to a 22” head)
- M: 9” tall x 19” circumference (will fit up to a 23” head)
- L: 10” tall x 20” circumference (will fit up to a 24” head)
Yarn: 160 (180, 190) yards of Stonehedge Fiber Mill Shepherd’s Wool Worsted in the Pewter colorway
Needles: US size 6 / 4.0 mm, US 7 / 4.5 mm 16” circular needle, AND either US size 7 / 4.5 mm DPNs or long circular (for magic loop method) for decreases
Gauge: 22 sts x 36 rows = 4” in broken rib pattern
Additional Supplies: stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle
