Carve is a cabled cowl knit in the round, with purl ridges and large ribbing added for extra warmth and detail. This design is inspired by my woodworking father, who loves to build things with his hands. The details in the ribbing and cables look as if they are carved from wood.

This cowl would be a great gift for men or women! It knits up very quickly and takes less than one skein of yarn!

This pattern is both charted and written, for your convenience.

Size: The pattern lists one size, 22” circumference x 11 1/4” height, but it is easily adaptable to be longer or shorter by adding or omitting cable repeats.

Yarn: This pattern calls for 175 yards of 100% worsted weight wool yarn. That is less than one skein of Stonehedge Fiber Mill Shepherd’s Wool Worsted. This is a very light worsted weight wool, so please keep that in mind when choosing yarn for this project and measuring your gauge.

Other tools needed: row counter, cable needle, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker for marking beginning of round.

Skills required: Knitting and purling, knitting in the round, cable work.
