This is a casual, easy fitting, striped sweater that has the stripes running vertically instead of horizontally. It required a striped yarn with long color repeats so the stripes would have a variety of widths. The variation in stripe widths occurs because the side fronts and back are worked together, while the center back is knit with no front attached. The sweater is worked flat in stockinette stitch, side-to-side, in one piece from the garter stitch edging on the left sleeve to the garter stitch edging on the right sleeve. The center front and neck borders are worked in garter stitch by picking up stitches after the body of the piece is complete. The sleeves are ¾ length, straight, not shaped, and edged in garter stitch. The garter stitch front and back bottom edgings are created as the body pieces are knit. I used Aran weight yarn and a size 9 (5.5mm) 40” circular needle. The finished measurements are 30 34, 38, 42, 46, 50, 58” bust and 23 23.5, 24, 24.5, 25, 25.5, 26” length.
