JACKET

A classic shawl-collared jacket for smart casual wear in cool weather, cosy but breathable. The front edges can be adjusted either to meet at the centre or to overlap for extra warmth. Two versions are provided with different honeycomb stitches: CAVALIER has a medium drape, and CORSEO has a softer drape. Both are tailored for comfort with a fitted collar, sloping shoulders, tapered raglan sleeves, and either a straight body profile or an optional method to shape the waist for both women and men. Both jackets are worked seamlessly from the top downwards in a neat honeycomb mesh that holds its shape well. Construction is easy with minimal short-row shaping in the collar and simple working of further components onto each other. For more adventurous makers, included are optional lace motifs that meander across the garment in an organic design (see the schematic shown here). Photos also show a demonstration of the freeform technique in the lace tutorial. #sizeinclusive

Working tip

To mark your place in a complex lace design as you are working it, use a ruler that moves up the page as you work each row. When working from a printout, this can be a physical ruler. When working from a digital screen, it can be a line that is drawn with the Comment feature in the Adobe PDF reader. The line is editable, i.e. you can first draw a very short straight line, then stretch it horizontally to cover the full width of the page, then move it upwards as your work progresses up the page.

For full disclosure, please note that many of the projects are my own. This reflects my extensive work on improving the pattern. My ratings show my own satisfaction with it.
