Celaena is the first shawl in this series, inspired by the Throne of Glass book series by Sarah J Maas. This particular design is inspired by the red and black dress that Celaena wears to her meeting with Archer in chapter ten of book two, Crown of Midnight. There is also a deleted chapter than can be found online, in which Celaena and Nehemia go shopping. The dress is in the window, and Celaena just can’t leave without it. The dress is described as red velvet, with lace mesh back, swooping low enough to see her scars (and to see that she isn’t wearing a corset).

Books are a way to enter another realm, to leave all your problems behind and let yourself get lost in an adventure. What better way is there to immerse yourself in a book that to snuggle down, wearing your own handmade and themed garments?

This is a large triangular shawl that can be easily altered to make it as large or small as you like. The main body of lacework it uses a simple 8 row repeat, making it a relatively straight-forward pattern that will keep you interested, but be simple enough to complete while watching TV or listening to an audiobook. The lace makes it lightweight, while still maintaining a lot of warmth from the wool, making it a perfect between seasons shawl to wrap around you in spring and autumn, and the cooler evenings in summer. The 4 ply is shown in black and red, as these were the colours of the dress that inspired this pattern. However the colour combinations possible are endless. Make it you own, and enjoy!
