The Celania is a must-have in any wardrobe, and will go equally well with elegant skirts or active jeans! It’s structured like a “mock” cardigan - i.e. the front buttons can open all the way down like a cardigan, but the shoulder section with the folded collar is closed. Eyelets at the hem and wrists add feminine detail.

The long collar allows you to wear it in multiple ways – off-shoulder, off one shoulder, high, low, boat-neck, with a decorative pin – the possibilities are endless for the playful minded!

It is knitted bottom-up and seamlessly, with waist shaping achieved by change of needle sizes. Sleeves are knitted separately and joined to Body piece at the underarms. By using a combination of knitting in the round or flat, there is only a tiiiiniest bit of sewing at the end before you are ready to look glamourous in your Celania Off-Shoulder Cardigan!

I have chosen to use a 100% superfine wool “Whisper” from the Australian Bendigo Woollen Mills, which is a lovely soft wool with no scratchiness and great sheen, with a slight crepe construction. It feels extremely luxurious on the skin!

Sizes:
Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
Chest circumference:
80 (90/100/110/120/130/140)cm or 32 (36/40/44/48/52/56)”

(Garment is intended to be stretchy and tight-fitting with negative ease - especially to hold up at the chest! If you are in between sizes, size down for tighter fit, size up for comfy fit.)

Length from hemline to underarm:
45 (47, 47, 47, 47.5, 47.5, 47.5)cm or 18 (18.75, 18.75, 18.75, 19, 19, 19)“

Upper arm circumference:
28 (29, 33.7, 38.75, 42.5, 45, 48.75)cm or 11.25 (11.75, 13.5, 15.5, 17, 18, 19.5)“

Instructions:
The pattern is fully written out for all sizes, with a chart for the Asymmetric Rib pattern. Includes photo tutorials for faux seams and short rows. Includes a file with full Schematic.

Yarn Substitutions:
Feel free to substitute for any other 8 ply yarn you like, although a yarn with “natural bounce” like wool would be recommended. Fibres without natural bounce (such as cotton or alpaca) may not provide enough stretch to support the fabric over the chest when worn off-shoulder, although will be fine if worn as shawl collar.

Yardage:
830 (875, 1060, 1190, 1380, 1420, 1545) metres or
910 (955, 1160, 1300, 1510, 1555, 1690) yards

Skill Level:
Intermediate, or an adventurous Advanced Beginner (photo tutorials have been provided to help you with Faux Seams and Short Rows).

IMPORTANT:
Absolutely do a swatch with your yarn and BLOCK before you start!!! The Asymmetric Rib pattern is very stretchy, and the gauge before and after blocking wool can be very different! The gauge you are aiming for is the fabric fully relaxed, yet retaining some stretchiness. This may be very different from the manufacturer’s suggested gauge.
