This simple, easy poncho is a quick knit and fun, too. Worked with superwash worsted weight, this poncho works up in a jiffy.

Both the front and back are worked in stockinette with garter edges to avoid folding and rolling. A handful of short rows at the bottom of the back and front create a gently curved bottom edge.

The back and front are identical except for length and the neck line. The two pieces are seamed at the shoulders using a three-needle bind off technique. An i-cord finish is used to tidy up the neck line.

Instructions accommodate size small (years 3-4), medium (years 5-6), and large (years 7-8). It’s a poncho after all, so it’s quite forgiving when it comes to sizing. An optional 1 inch (2.5 cm) seams below each arm pit can create the allure of a faux seam for an improved fit.

Written instructions include English and metric units.
