This piece is knit in a hefty/lofty Aran or a Bulky yarn. It should work in several yarn options, but I found that some yarns knit up requiring a lot more yardage than others. For example, the lovely Cashmere needed a lot more yardage than the other yarns. I think the yarn was not as stretchy as others and a little sticky, so it used more the knit up with.
Yarns are all so different!

Needles:
US 09’s & 10’s … This hat is worked in the round. The size cord and type of needles depends on your preference.
I like to work in magic loop.
There are many other ways to attack this.
Pick your favorite, being mindful that it gets smaller at the top
and you will need a solution for that as well as your cast on size.

GAUGE:
Before blocking, using larger needles, in the chain-link pattern

STS 22 sts to 4”
ROWS 34 rows to 4”

SIZEs:
Head Band: XS-14” S-16” MED-18” LRG- 20” –
the band of the hat has a lot of give. 18” is snug on my 21” head; 20” larger is loose and not binding (but also fits on a 24” head with ease).
SLOUCH: height, band to top = 9”BEANIE: height, band to top = 8”COWL, varies…. My version using every inch of the Cashmere is 6” high and is 18” around.

Notions:
Removable stitch markers if desired & needle or hook to tuck in ends & sewing.
